What Makes Long Day Care Special at McGill

We provide care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Whether families need full-time care or extended hours, our long day care program offers the flexibility and consistency that working parents appreciate. Each day is thoughtfully planned to balance learning opportunities, creative exploration, social experiences, and quiet rest—all within a faith-based community that values every child’s unique journey.

Our center operates as a ministry of McGill Baptist Church, continuing a tradition of love and service that has guided our care for over 50 years. We see each child as a precious gift, and our goal is to nurture their spiritual, emotional, and intellectual growth through gentle guidance, meaningful play, and strong relationships.

Long day care isn’t simply a place for children to spend their days—it’s an environment designed to support their growth in every way. At McGill Learning Center, our teachers create daily experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Each classroom is thoughtfully arranged to promote hands-on learning, cooperative play, and age-appropriate independence.

For infants, this means warm, responsive care and sensory-rich experiences that help them feel secure and connected. Toddlers enjoy engaging activities that build fine motor skills, communication, and a growing sense of self. Preschoolers explore early literacy, science, and problem-solving through interactive play and group learning. Every stage is guided by teachers who value patience, consistency, and the joy of discovery.

We also believe that learning happens best in a community that reflects the values of love, kindness, and respect. Our long day care program emphasizes social-emotional growth—helping children learn to share, take turns, express their feelings, and care for others. Daily Bible stories, songs, and prayers are woven naturally into the day, nurturing each child’s spirit and helping them see God’s love in everyday moments.

Our family-style dining approach and peanut-free policy promote healthy eating habits and safety for all children. During meals, teachers sit with the children, encouraging conversation, good manners, and independence.

A Typical Day in Our Long Day Care Program

Each day at McGill Learning Center is thoughtfully balanced to provide structure, creativity, and care. Children are welcomed each morning into bright, cheerful classrooms filled with opportunities for play and discovery. From circle time and art projects to outdoor exploration and rest, every moment is part of a larger rhythm that helps children feel secure and inspired.

A typical day might begin with free play and social time as children settle in, followed by group activities that include songs, stories, and movement. As the day unfolds, children engage in small-group learning experiences tailored to their developmental stage. Outdoor play offers fresh air, exercise, and time to explore nature in our safe, shaded play areas.

Meals are shared together, creating a sense of community and gratitude. After lunch, children rest or nap in quiet, comfortable spaces before easing into the afternoon with more play and learning. Teachers use this time to observe and support each child’s individual growth—celebrating small milestones and encouraging curiosity.

By day’s end, children leave with smiles, stories, and the confidence that comes from being known and loved. Parents can feel assured that their child’s day has been filled with purpose, play, and gentle guidance.

At McGill Learning Center, long day care is more than just childcare—it’s a nurturing partnership between families and teachers, grounded in faith and dedicated to helping children grow in heart, mind, and spirit.
