Preschool Programs at McGill Learning Center

At McGill Learning Center, our preschool programs are thoughtfully designed to support the natural curiosity and growth of children ages 3 to 5. As a trusted part of the community for over 50 years, we understand the importance of creating a safe, welcoming space where young learners can thrive. Our preschool classrooms are vibrant, joyful environments where children are guided by experienced, caring teachers who meet each child where they are developmentally.

A Nurturing Start to Your Child’s Learning Journey

We believe children learn best through play, exploration, and meaningful interactions. Our curriculum encourages hands-on learning and includes age-appropriate activities that foster early literacy, math, science, and creative expression. Equally important, we prioritize social-emotional learning—helping children develop confidence, cooperation, and empathy in preparation for kindergarten and beyond.

Faith is also woven gently into each day. As a ministry of McGill Baptist Church, our program embraces Biblical values like kindness, patience, and love, helping children grow spiritually in a caring, inclusive setting. Our daily routines include prayer, Bible stories, and songs that affirm each child’s unique worth and God’s love for them.

With a full-day schedule from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, we provide consistency and structure that support working families. Children enjoy healthy, peanut-free meals served family-style, encouraging independence and conversation. When you choose McGill, you’re choosing a place that sees your child as a whole person—body, mind, and spirit.

From 6 weeks to 5 years, your child is embraced by a community that cares deeply. We are honored to be a part of your family’s journey and strive to make each day meaningful in the life of your little one.

What Makes Our Preschool Program Special

Our preschool program goes beyond basic care to offer a comprehensive early learning experience grounded in warmth and intention. Every aspect of our day is built around encouraging children to explore, ask questions, and build friendships in a structured yet flexible setting. Our teachers are not just caregivers; they are facilitators of learning, deeply invested in each child’s journey.

Through a balance of group activities, one-on-one interactions, and free play, we create a rhythm that helps children feel both secure and inspired. We offer themed units that reflect children’s interests and introduce foundational academic concepts in a fun and approachable way. For example, a unit on “Our Community” might involve storytelling, simple mapping activities, role play, and inviting local helpers to speak with the children.

We also recognize that learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. We keep families involved through regular updates, parent-teacher conferences, and take-home resources. This partnership helps reinforce learning at home and ensures that each child’s growth is supported on all fronts.

Our preschoolers engage in outdoor play daily, weather permitting, which helps build motor skills, cooperation, and a connection to nature. Inside, learning centers such as art, blocks, dramatic play, and literacy areas provide endless opportunities for creativity and skill development.

Preparing for Kindergarten and Lifelong Learning

Kindergarten readiness isn’t just about knowing letters and numbers—it’s about being emotionally, socially, and behaviorally ready to take that next big step. At McGill Learning Center, our preschool programs lay the groundwork for success by supporting every part of a child’s development.

We guide children to follow directions, express themselves, and manage emotions in healthy ways. Group time activities like circle time and story discussions help build attention span and listening skills. At the same time, our focus on cooperative play teaches problem-solving, compromise, and friendship. These skills are essential for a smooth transition into the structure and expectations of a kindergarten classroom.

Academically, we introduce key concepts in engaging ways. Children learn to recognize and write their names, identify letters and numbers, count objects, and notice patterns. Simple science explorations might involve observing insects or mixing colors. Storytime helps develop comprehension and vocabulary. All of this is done in a way that feels like play because we know young children learn best through doing.

Spiritual growth is also nurtured as children hear and talk about God’s love, learn simple prayers, and participate in songs that bring joy and meaning to their day. This faith-based environment fosters a sense of purpose, belonging, and compassion that stays with them.

Ultimately, our goal is to help children become confident learners and kind friends—ready for kindergarten and for all the growth ahead. When your child leaves McGill, they will be well-prepared not only for school but for life, grounded in the values and skills that matter most.
